Fingals Cave : Staffa
This Scottish iconic geological marvel epitomised by the Felix Mendelssohn Hebrides Overture. This short film funded by National Trust Scotland tells the story of the Island of Staffa and the remarkable caves that give it its fame. An entirely volcanic island, is probably best known for its unique geological features of caves and the unique shape of the basalt columns which are also found in the Giant’s Causeway.
To capture the spirit of Mendelssohn we flew a combination of drones around the island and even inside the cave to capture extraordinary images of this iconic Scottish landmark. Filmed with a variety of drones and involved flying in and around Fingal’s Cave with waves lashing the rocky walls. Extremely challenging conditions to test even the most competent of pilots!
Due to be screened at the Edinburgh Jun 2017
