Adapted from Christie’s 1958 novel, Ordeal By Innocence, directed by Sandra Goldbacher and produced by Roopesh Parekh.
It is Christmas 1954 and millionaires Rachel Argyll is murdered at her family estate Sunny Point. Her adopted son Jack Argyll, a young delinquent, is arrested for her murder but rigorously declares his innocence of the crime.
As the only suspect, Jack is arrested for the crime and held in custody awaiting trial. Many months later, Dr Arthur Calgary, walks into Sunny Point claiming to have just returned from an expedition to the Arctic. He also claims to hold an alibi that can prove Jack’s innocence. This is all too late to save Jack as he died in prison before the case could come to trial. The Argyll family is reluctant to dig up the secrets of the past and revisit painful memories.
The shattering implications of Dr Arthur Calgary’s story are too big to avoid. If he is telling the truth then the wrong person was arrested for Rachel’s murder. If Jack wasn’t the killer, then who? It must have been somebody else at Sunny Point!
